ELD stands for electronic logging device. It is DOT mandated electronic hardware device that connects to a vehicle's engine to record driving hours. It includes a screen for truck drivers to monitor their current status.
How do SmartElds work?
SmartElds direct communicate with a vehicle's engine to receive detailed engine status. ELD is used to record HOS, it must be DOT-registered. The ELD mandate required all commercial vehicles to have an ELD device fitted to replace paper logbook systems.
What are ELD Rules?
The ELD mandate was published in December 2015 and commenced coming into effect in February 2016, being the first adoption of ELDs. The ELD mandate deadline was December 18, 2017.
